BSNL Offers Re 1 Plan with Unlimited Calls, Free SIM & 2GB Data Per Day

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched an eye-catching prepaid plan to celebrate Independence Day 2025 — and at first glance, it looks almost too good to be true. For just Re 1, new customers can enjoy a 30‑day pack offering unlimited voice calls, 2GB of high‑speed 4G data per day, 100 SMS daily, and even a free BSNL 4G SIM card. The offer, dubbed the Freedom Offer, is available nationwide from August 1 to August 31, 2025.

The plan’s benefits are certainly impressive. With 2GB of high‑speed data every day, users can stream videos, browse social media, and use messaging apps without worrying about running out too soon. Once the daily data limit is reached, speeds will drop to 40kbps under BSNL’s fair usage policy — still allowing basic messaging and browsing. In addition, unlimited calling to all networks and 100 SMS per day make it a complete communication package.

However, there’s a catch: this plan is strictly for new BSNL users. Existing customers will not be able to avail themselves of this special Re 1 recharge. The strategy appears to be part of BSNL’s push to attract fresh subscribers at a time when competition in the Indian telecom sector is fierce and private players dominate the market.

Another major highlight of the Freedom Offer is the inclusion of a free BSNL 4G SIM card. New customers can simply visit their nearest BSNL retailer or Common Services Centre (CSC) to get the SIM and activate the plan on the spot. This removes the extra cost usually associated with purchasing a new SIM card.

While BSNL has also been offering a doorstep SIM delivery service — allowing users to order a SIM online and have it delivered to their home — it’s unclear if this Freedom Offer will be available via that route. To avoid disappointment, BSNL recommends visiting a store or CSC in person to ensure eligibility.

The offer comes amid a challenging phase for BSNL. Data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) indicates that the state-run telecom operator has been losing both overall and active subscribers in recent months. Private competitors like Jio, Airtel, and Vi have been consistently adding users with aggressive pricing and widespread 4G coverage, while BSNL is still in the process of expanding its 4G network nationwide.

By introducing such an attractive Independence Day plan, BSNL is clearly aiming to win back relevance in the prepaid market. At just Re 1, the Freedom Offer could appeal to budget-conscious users or those looking for a backup SIM. For new users, it’s a nearly risk‑free way to experience BSNL’s network and services for a full month.

Still, the limitation to new customers only will leave existing BSNL subscribers disappointed. Nevertheless, for those who qualify, this is one of the most affordable telecom offers currently available in India — and a smart way for BSNL to grab attention during the festive season.
