Neeraj Garg : I have a BSc in Computer Science Degree from Delhi University, post which I completed my MBA from NMIMS University, Mumbai. For as long as I can remember, I have been inclined to all things related to IT. This very passion for technology, coupled with my zeal for problem solving, led me to start VNS International Pvt Ltd in 1998, which came into business with IT retailing and completing government projects in Computing, Networking, Radio Links, and VSAT. The company has since then grown into an organisation that continues to take the high-end computing business to a higher level. Founding VNS International was a leap of faith, but looking back, each challenge only pushed me to learn more and innovate. Over the years, my role has shifted from hands-on execution to guiding company strategy and ensuring our team keeps customer needs at the centre of everything we do.

IT Voice-How does a regular workday unfold for you, and what aspects of your role do you find most fulfilling or challenging?

Neeraj Garg : Honestly, no two days are quite the same. Generally, it’s a mix of meetings with partners, reviewing numbers, huddles with the team to set focus areas, and brainstorming new ideas. I spend significant time connecting with clients to understand their changing requirements and work out solutions are these requirements using the latest technologies like AI, ML & Analytics. I try to spend as much time as I can with my team and customers, because their feedback shapes our growth.

2. Strategic Vision

IT Voice- What key strategies have you implemented at VNS International to drive profitability and growth?

Neeraj Garg : For us, success has always been rooted in solid partnerships, with both technology giants and our customers. We’ve made it a point to keep adopting newer technologies, keep investing in our people, automating where it makes sense, and staying flexible as the market changes. Setting up our HP Z Centre of Excellence was a big move for hands-on client engagement and innovation, and it’s helped us drive strong, sustainable growth. We also started an initiative ‘Workstations ki Baat, Z Ke Saath’ to train sales representatives of HP T2 and T3 channel partners. The objective of providing training under this initiative is to boost the knowledge of all sales personnel, which will ultimately help them sell the products in a better way. The training is being provided on HP Z Tower Workstations and HP Z-books, along with Use Cases at India’s First Z Centre of Excellence. We provide pre-sales and post-sales technical assistance to our channel partners to help enable their sales. For us, this means innovation, a customer-centric approach, and strategic partnerships. Focus on emerging technologies like Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Virtual Reality, with our wide range of high-end systems, positions us to achieve exponential growth in the Indian market.

IT Voice-How do you align your leadership role with the broader business goals of the company?

Neeraj Garg : Clarity is everything. We have regular conversations across teams to make sure everyone’s rowing in the same direction. We set clear KPIs, celebrate wins big and small, and encourage open dialogue so that everyone can see how their work ties into our larger goals. At VNS International, the one thing that helps foster a positive environment is being one with our vision. I try to create an environment that is open and allows people to share their opinions, ideas, and strategies to contribute to the communal goal, all while keeping the organisation’s vision in mind:

  • Our vision is:
  • Visualise – Visualise to materialise
  • Nurture  – Nurture customer relationships and trust
  • Strive      – Strive to give the best, always

Efficient communication and adequate understanding of what we need to do and need to achieve help keep the company and its employees focused and passionate about our goals.

The best alliances are those where both sides learn from each other, adapt together, and support one another through ups and downs.

IT Voice- Can you share a successful collaboration that significantly impacted your business trajectory?

Neeraj Garg : VNS International and HP have been successfully associated for over 26 years now. HP has always been a very partner-friendly company, and this partnership has grown exponentially in these 26 years. HP not only makes it easier for a partner to do business with HP – it provides partners with a clear path to ready their business and succeed in today’s environment and beyond – to capitalize on emerging trends and play a central role in evolving customer buying journey. Our collaboration on High-end computing products like Workstations, Mobile Workstations & Premium Laptops has been a game changer. Our focus over the last four to five years has been HP Z Tower Workstations and HP Zbook Mobile Workstations, along with solutions involving these products. Workstations provide higher computing power, performance, storage, professional graphics, greater expandability, higher memory capacity, ISV certifications, and collaboration & performance tuning

4- Technology & Consulting

IT Voice- How is technology shaping your operations, and what role does consulting play in your decision-making process?

We make our decisions based on data, real-world feedback, and a willingness to try new things.

IT Voice- Have you led or contributed to any tech-driven transformation projects at VNS?

Neeraj Garg : Definitely, at VNS, we start transformation before we lead our customers to do so. We conceptualized the concept of HP Z Centre of Excellence and worked with HP hand in hand to roll out the same. This transformed the way high-end Computing solutions are showcased and implemented for customers. This concept is being replicated Pan India to help tap the growing demand for solutions for AI, ML, and other emerging technologies. We have led various projects for Defence, Ministries, and Corporate customers, leading to disruptive transformation in their organizations.

5- Marketing & Market Expansion

IT Voice- What marketing approaches have proven most effective for your industry or products?

Neeraj Garg : Education-driven marketing works best for us. Over the last few years, we’ve used a mix of influencer-driven social media campaigns, hands-on training programs for sales representatives of all stakeholders, and interactive events to extend our reach and make a lasting impression. Being present both online and offline, and creating real value through knowledge sharing, has helped us build lasting relationships. We also participate in various industry events to showcase our products and solutions, and how they can be beneficial in their industry verticals. We are expanding markets by reaching multiple geographies and also increasing the total addressable market by educating customers on the latest technologies.

IT Voice- How do you approach entering new markets or verticals, especially in a competitive environment?

Neeraj Garg : The key to making inroads in new markets and/or new industry verticals is a clear understanding of the challenges they face and working with our best-fit solutions for them to become more resilient and efficient. We start with thorough research and analysis to understand the landscape and customer needs, come out with the best value for money and an effective solution, and deliver results. We also stress strong local partnerships with channel partners to help grow together.

6- Cross-functional Leadership

IT Voice- Managing cross-functional teams can be complex. How do you foster collaboration across departments?

Neeraj Garg : I encourage open communication and make sure everyone knows their ideas are valued. Regular joint meetings, transparent processes, and recognizing team achievements go a long way. The best results come when everyone feels like they’re part of something bigger.

IT Voice- What leadership traits do you consider crucial when managing diverse and goal-driven teams?

Neeraj Garg : Honesty, having trust in your team, empathy, adaptability, clear communication, and decisive policies are crucial. I believe in leading from the front, supporting my team, handholding them whenever needed, and giving them room to grow and become result-oriented.

7. Challenges & Learning

IT Voice- What has been one of the biggest challenges in your career, and how did you overcome it?

Neeraj Garg : Keeping up with the rapid pace of tech changes in the IT industry during the early 2000s has kept me on my toes. The answer was to keep learning, stay humble, and surround myself with a team that’s just as hungry to grow and adapt. Another challenge has been the growing channel community and fierce competition. Innovation and evolution, day in day out, are the way we overcome this. When it comes to what I learnt from these hurdles, I would say resilience is what comes to mind. Starting a business requires the resilience to face challenges, understand requirements, analyse situations, and innovate sustainable solutions. Resilience, coupled with sheer will power and clarity of vision, is necessary in order to overcome challenges and optimise growth.

IT Voice- How do you stay ahead of industry trends and keep evolving in your role?

Neeraj Garg : I never stop learning. Whether it’s from industry events, direct feedback from clients, or just talking to team members. Active participation in national and international tech forums and encouraging a culture of innovation throughout VNS is my secret sauce.

8. Future Outlook

IT Voice- What’s next for VNS International in terms of growth or innovation?

Neeraj Garg : We have big plans to double down on advances in AI, Cloud, and Digital transformation, as well as to extend our presence in other locations, especially the South. We want to keep pushing the limits, both for ourselves and for our clients. Further, we have plans to get into R&D and develop customized high-end computing solutions for the ever-growing demand from AI developers and customers who consume AI.

IT Voice- Are there any upcoming initiatives or focus areas you’re particularly excited about?

Neeraj Garg : I’m particularly excited about collaborating on AI and designing customized solutions with our OEM partners. Also, developing training modules and platforms for customers and our channel partners is another key focus.

9. Advice & Inspiration

IT Voice- What advice would you give to professionals aiming to excel in business development?

Neeraj Garg : Stay customer-focused, keep learning, and build your credibility by delivering results consistently. Take smart risks and invest in your network. Most importantly, never underestimate the value of a strong, motivated team. Sustaining and growing a business regardless of the field requires the utmost amount of determination, resilience, and willpower. With hurdles lining the path to success, it becomes imperative to be strong enough to continue past them. For individuals in the IT sector, particularly, I would advise them to be adaptable. The IT industry is one of the fastest-evolving industries, with new technologies and changes coming up all the time. To thrive in such an industry, it is significant to keep reading, keep learning, and keep adapting to the new things that come up, be it technology or means of business. It is also helpful to stay updated and be ahead of the curve because that is what gives you an edge in an industry that is brimming with competitors.

IT Voice- Who or what has been your biggest inspiration professionally?

Neeraj Garg : I find inspiration in the people all around me. People at OEMs, my team, my business colleagues, our partners, and especially our clients, who challenge us to keep stepping up our game every day. And of course, a few great mentors, including my father and my teachers, along the way, have made all the difference.
