India Ranks 4th in Global Traffic to DeepSeek with 43.36M Monthly Visits

Chinese AI startup DeepSeek continues to be the fastest-growing AI tool globally, months after its R1 reasoning model made headlines for impacting the stock market. In February 2025, the web-based chatbot saw 524.7 million new visits, surpassing OpenAI’s ChatGPT, which recorded around 500 million visits, according to AI analytics platform aitools.xyz.

DeepSeek’s total website traffic reached 792.6 million visits, with 136.5 million unique users. However, the platform clarified that unique visits are counted cumulatively each month, meaning repeat users in different months are recounted. The report also revealed DeepSeek’s market share grew from 2.34% to 6.58% in February.

Despite its rapid rise, DeepSeek ranked third in overall AI market share, with ChatGPT holding the top position and Canva securing second place. In the chatbot category, ChatGPT remained No.1, while DeepSeek followed at No.2 with a 12.12% market share.

China led AI tool adoption with 221.6 million visits in February, driven by a 193.2 million month-over-month increase. India ranked fourth, contributing 43.36 million visits to DeepSeek’s chatbot website.
