Mozilla Announces ‘Firefox Lite’ and Forges New Partnerships in India to Enhance Browsing Experiences for Users

Mozilla, a non-profit pioneer and advocate for the open web, officially unveiled ‘Firefox Lite’ today to fulfill user needs for a fast and lightweight mobile browsing in India. Mozilla has entered into strategic partnerships with Times Internet and DB Digital to deliver the best-in-class content to its users. It has also on-boarded MoMagic, a leading intelligent marketing company as distribution partners to expand its reach.

Firefox Lite is an incredibly fast and lightweight Android browser which is less than 4MB, with outstanding privacy-focused browsing features. Speaking at the event, Joe Cheng, Head of Product Mozilla Asia said, “India is the second largest online market worldwide and a mobile first country and is projected to grow to 666.4 million in 2023. Majority of India’s Internet users are mobile phone Internet users who take advantage of entry-level alternatives to expensive landline connections that require desktop PCs and infrastructure. This presents us with a huge opportunity to empower them with better than ever mobile browsing experiences.”

Key Highlights of Firefox Lite:

● Fast: Firefox Lite’s standout feature, ‘Turbo Mode,’ blocks third-party trackers. This renders less data consumption and websites load up faster.

● Lightweight: Firefox Lite is less than 4MB, which is less than 10% of the size of other browsers in the market. Given its lightweight, users can stay updated on latest offerings from Firefox Lite without worrying about spending a lot of data to update the app.

● Private: Advertisers or websites often use web trackers for broad user data collection and targeted advertising. Firefox Lite is equipped with private browsing and tracking protection to help users browse without a trace.
