VMware Accelerates Indian Digital Transformation

VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility announced the roll out of the 2018 “Tomorrows Edge – Business Innovation Tour”, a unique technology session to help growth markets accelerate their digital transformation agenda. The 2017 edition of this tour was a resounding success across the 10 cities it covered. This year in the first phase, the company will focus on New Delhi, Coimbatore, Hyderabad and Pune.  The sessions in each city will focus on the ways in which enterprise technologies such as mobility, end-user computing, virtualization, business continuity & disaster recovery can enable businesses achieve more with less.

The digital transformation story in India and APAC is undergoing rapid change. According to IDC’s “MaturityScape Benchmark: Digital Transformation in APEJ, 2018”, organizations in Asia-Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) have progressed from resisting digital transformation to exploring digital transformation initiatives. However, only 1.2 percent of organizations in the region meet the gold standard of being “digital disruptors”, clearly stating that more businesses need to adopt Digital transformation.

A forecast by Gartner in November 2017, revealed that IT spending in India would reach a total of $87.1 billion in 2018, an increase of 9.2 percent from 2017 estimated spending of $79.7 billion. In the forecast, the analyst firm suggested that businesses that do not move faster than their customers will be left behind. In this context, Indian small and medium businesses must embrace digital transformation as soon as they can to deliver break through value[1].
