3 Apple iPhone X features you may see in Samsung Galaxy S9

We are just days away from the official unveiling of the Samsung’s next flagship smartphones, Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+. The tech rumour mill is all abuzz with leaks about the upcoming smartphones.

The company is holding its ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event on February 25th at Barcelona on the sidelines of Mobile World Congress 2018 (MWC2018). This will be the South Korean smartphone giant’s first major launch since the unveiling of Apple iPhone X. So speculations are rife that the smartphone is likely to have some features similar to that of Apple’s tenth anniversary edition smartphone, iPhone X.

First of these is Apple iPhone X’s facial recognition feature, FaceID. Samsung already has facial recognition and iris-scanning in its Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones. However, it is not as advanced as FaceID in iPhone X. Samsung is widely said to be working on a similar technology for its next flagship phones.
Another feature is stero speakers. Samsung is expected to finally bring these in Galaxy S9 smartphones. Speculations suggest that the company will have one speaker at the top of the smartphone, near the traditional position of earpiece. The other may be next to the USB-C and auxillary ports, at bottom. Rumours claim that the layout too will be similar. Apple introduced stereo speakers in 2016 with iPhone 7.

Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphones are also likely to have the Apple iPhone X’s most-talked about feature, Animojis. The ‘much-loved’ 3D emojis are also shown in an official teaser of the smartphone that has surfaced on the internet.
These emojis track user’s facial movements and mirrors them in 3D.

Other rumoured specifications of Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphones include 5.8-inch or 6.2-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED display. The smartphones will run on Qualcomm’s latest top-end processor Snapdragon 845. In India, like always, the devices will run on the company’s in-house Exynos processors. On camera front, speculations suggest 12-megapixel dual-pixel camera with OIS (f/1.5, f/2.4) and 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The smartphone will have the same IP-rating as the company’s current flagship range, IP68.=
Rumours also suggest that Samsung will retain headphone jack in the two smartphones.
