Lenovo recalls 78,000 laptops over fire hazard

After smartphones it now the laptops that are facing fire issues. Chinese manufacturer Lenovo has recalled its Think Pad laptops in US and Canada because of some fire hazard. The Consumer Product Safety Commission in US has revealed that about 78,000 units of Think Pad X1 Carbon fifth generation model have been recalled by the company due to this issue.

The report also adds that the fire hazard is caused by an unfastened screw, which can lead to overheating and can damage the battery. The damage can also lead to fire and requires immediate repair. The company has set the recall date as February 6, 2018 and also reveals that out of the 78,000 units it sold 55,500 units in Canada.

To recall, the Lenovo Think Pad X1 Carbon comes in Silver and Black colour variants and is the 5th generation of the series. The company also said that the name of the product is 5th generation Lenovo Think Pad X1 Carbon and the machine type will be 20HQ, 20HR, 20K3 or 20K4 and the serial number will be printed on the bottom of the device.
The 78,000 affected laptops were manufactured between December 2016 to October 2017. The company also requested the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 5th generation users to immediately visit https://support.lenovo.com/X1C_5GEN_RECALL in order to check if their laptop is included in the recall list or not. Along with this, it has also requested the users to immediately stop using the laptop if its there on the list.

Recently, a OnePlus 3T user from Mumbai reported that the smartphone exploded while charging. The user shared the incident on Facebook along with the images which showed a totally damaged smartphone. Till now the company has not yet released any official statement on the incident.
