Xiaomi 5X specs leaked, may be the first phone under the upcoming sub-brand

A few days ago, Xiaomi was reportedly set to introduce a new sub-brand — its third after Mi and Redmi. Now, some leaked images have popped up online showing a smartphone that could be the first to debut under the upcoming sub-brand name.
Coming from Weibo, a Chinese microblogging website, the leaked images suggest the arrival of Xiaomi 5X. The smartphone is said to sport a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) display along with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and 4GB RAM. The handset will reportedly sport a dual-rear camera setup, which will most likely become the second Xiaomi handset with dual rear cameras after the flagship Mi 6.
Several online reports add that the unannounced Xiaomi 5X may have a higher variant in the pipeline as well. The device is rumoured to include Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB RAM, 12MP dual rear camera and a 16MP front-facing camera. The smartphone may run Android 7.1.1 based MIUI 9 and could be made official on July 26.
The new Xiaomi brand is likely to compete against Oppo and Vivo, both of which are subsidiaries of BBK Electronics.
For now, Xiaomi is all geared up to launch its Mi Max 2 phablet in India. The handset will be unveiled in the country on July 18. The company, earlier in May 2017, launched the Mi Max 2 phablet in China. Successor to last year’s Mi Max, the device has a metal unibody design and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.
Talking about the specs, the Mi Max 2 has a 6.44-inch Full display of 1080×1920 pixels resolution. It comes with Android 7.0 Nougat OS, topped with the company’s MIUI 8 skin layer. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, paired with 4GB of RAM. There might not be any major changes in the specs between the Chinese and the Indian version.
