10 finalists set to compete in IET India Scholarship Finals

IET_Logo_It Voice The Institution of Engineering and  Technology (IET) will host the finals of its  prestigious Scholarship award in  Bangalore on August 26, 2014. The event will be a culmination of the competition among undergraduate engineering students wherein the best of the best will be declared winners.

Ten regional winners will compete with each other across two categories – general and women. They will be awarded with a certificate and a cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000 each for the winners and Rs. 75,000 for the runners up. T V Mohandas Pai, Chairman, Manipal Global Education will be the Chief Guest and Sumit D Chowdhury, Vice President – Reliance Jio Infocom Ltd, and noted author of Rules of the Game will be the Guest of Honour.

The preliminary rounds of this prestigious award received an overwhelming response from engineering students with nearly 4,000 entries across India. The competition was spread across four levels. The first level filtered applicants on the eligibility criteria. At the second level, candidates had to take an online test that assessed their knowledge in engineering subjects. For the third level of regional rounds, candidates had to come up with engineering solutions to solve current societal problems. Solutions had to be original, socially acceptable, economically feasible and technologically viable. After these three rounds of shortlisting, ten have emerged as national finalists, who will now vie for the crown on August 26 in Bangalore. They will once again be tested for not just their technical knowledge and problem solving capability, but their potential to be the next generation leaders.
