Xiaomi Will Launch Its First Drone On May 25th
Xiaomi has launched a diverse range of devices including everything from smartphones and tablets to suitcases and hoverboards. And now it seems that the Chinese tech company is all set to debut in the drone market, currently dominated by names like DJI, GoPro, and Amazon .
Xiaomi will be launching its first ever quadcopter drone on May 25. The company has teased an image of the quadcopter drone along with a camera attached underneath it on the MIUI forum. The launch will be live-streamed as well.
“Something wonderful and cool is flying to us very soon,” added the moderator who posted the image on the forum.
Although the design of Xiaomi’s upcoming drone is not clearly shown in the teaser image, according to The Verge it is strikingly similar to the Yuneec Typhoon H drone. It is also rumoured that Xiaomi might have collaborated with Yuneec for the air-borne device. However, nothing can be confirmed just yet.
For those unaware, the Yuneec Typhoon H drone can record videos in 4K resolution at 30 frames per second and can capture 12MP images too. It has a retractable landing gear and folding rotor arms, and can be controlled using a 7-inch touchscreen remote controller. The drone can stay in air for approximately 25 minutes and can reach a maximum height of 400 feet.
In related news, a China-based startup called Zero Zero Robotics has developed a ‘ Hover Camera ‘ which it claims to be AI-powered. As per the company, the camera can capture 13MP images as well as 4K resolution videos. It has 32GB of in-built storage along with a Sonar sensor and an extra camera. The device has a carbon-fibre body with soft rubberised coating, making it highly durable. It can also take 360 degree panoramic videos and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon Flight platform.
