Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 could be coming soon to India, hints teaser

It seems that Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi is all geared up to launch its next device in India. Recently, Xiaomi’s India head Manu Kumar Jain has tweeted, “i is coming soon! Any guesses what is this?”. Along with the letter I the tweet also consists of the tricolours of Indian flag.

The company has maintained complete suspense on the launch. It is not clear whether it will launch the Mi 6C or the Redmi Note 5. However, going by the leaks and rumours, it is expected that the Chinese manufacturer will launch the Redmi Note 5.

Recently, the Redmi Note 5 was listed on JD.com in China for a brief time. Spotted by GizChina the smartphone has a price tag of CNY 8,888.

The smartphone was also spotted on certification website TENAA. The listing revealed some of the specifications of the smartphone. As per the listing Redmi Note 5 will sport a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. The smartphone is expected to come in two variants — 3GB and 4GB with the option of 32GB and 64GB internal storage. The dual SIM device will be backed by a 4000mAh battery.

The display will be bezel-less and will sport 18:9 aspect ratio. It will have a single rear camera and a 5MP front snapper.

Xiaomi, recently slashed the price of its Redmi Note 4 smartphone. The device was launched in India in January this year with a starting price tag of Rs 9,999 and has now received a permanent price cut of Rs 1,000.

The 3GB RAM version was until now priced at Rs 10,999 while the 4GB RAM version was priced at Rs 12,999. However, after the price cut, the 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM versions priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,999 respectively. The new variants are available from Mi.com website and Flipkart.
