Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 starts receiving MIUI 9 global stable ROM

Xiaomi is slowly rolling out its MIUI 9 operating system to the announced list of handsets and this time it is a budget device back from 2016, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 3.

This rollout of the MIUI 9 Global Stable ROM was announced on the MIUI Forum, stating that MIUI 9.2.4.0 version will be rolled out in a staggered phase as it may take between 48 hours to 72 hours to receive the update.

The handset did not receive the MIUI 9 update, but is directly getting MIUI 9.2. This update is of 290 MB in size, and also brings January security patch to Redmi Note 3.

To recall, the Redmi Note 3 came to India in March 2016 in two RAM and storage versions – one featuring 2GB RAM and 16GB inbuilt storage, and other with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. While the 2GB variant is priced at Rs 9,999, the 3GB variant is priced at Rs 11,999.

The key highlight of the new Redmi Note 3 is it powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor. It sports a 5.5-inch full-HD IPS display with 1080×1920 pixels resolution. The device is backed by a 4050mAh battery with fast charging support that is claimed to be charged up to 50% in 1 hour. For imaging duties, the Redmi 3 has a 16MP rear camera with phase detection autofocus (PDAF) and two-tone flash and a 5MP front camera. In terms of connectivity, it includes 4G LTE, VoLTE, Bluetooth, 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi, and Micro-USB.
