Xiaomi Mi Drone Price, Specs, Release Date Revealed
After days of teasing its upcoming Mi Drone, Xiaomi has finally unveiled the device at an event in China. The design of the Mi Drone is similar to any other quadcopter drone in the market. However, the highlight of the device is its modular design which lets user detach certain parts of it, making it the first modular drone in the market.
Mi Drone’s camera module and rotors can be easily detached, thus making it highly portable. It sports four rotors and features a 4K video camera. There is another variant of the drone that comes with a Full HD resolution camera. The Mi Drone is backed by a 5,100mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 27 minutes of non-stop flying.
Users can control the Xiaomi Mi Drone via a remote controller. The controller comes with a holder that can house a Xiaomi smartphone. The smartphone display can then be used as a viewfinder. The drone also comes with autonomous modes to automatically take off or land, return to home, waypoint navigation and orbit. It uses GPS and Glonass to position itself. In environments where there are no signals, it uses the visual positioning system placed at the bottom.
As for the pricing, the Xiaomi Mi Drone with Full HD camera costs CNY 2,499, while the 4K camera resolution variant is priced at CNY 2,999. The drone will first go on sale in its home country China. However, Xiaomi has not yet mentioned anything about the device’s availability outside China.
