This is HTC’s new ‘success mantra’ for 2018

HTC seems to be banking on a new mantra to make a comeback in the smartphone segment. The Taiwanese tech firm, as reported by Digitimes, is making some changes in the number of smartphones it will launch in 2018.
It has been mentioned that HTC will be reducing its smartphone portfolio in 2018. The company’s research and development department is said to focus on just one flagship per year theory in addition to a few mid-range smartphone launches.
The report says HTC plans to keep its presence strong in the mid-range smartphone market, is said to launch the toned-down version of the HTC U11+. The smartphone will reportedly be arriving as soon as next month. So it is likely that the company will be announcing the handset at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2018.
Another smartphone said to see the light of the day is the ‘HTC U12’. This will probably be a flagship smartphone, given that company’s 2017 flagship was the HTC U11.. The smartphone could be sporting a Quad HD screen, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and a dual camera setup. There is no word on when the smartphone will be launched.
If you didn’t notice, all the smartphones falling in the U series this year came with a single rear camera. This was rather surprising as HTC was among the first companies to introduce dual rear camera handsets. It had flagships such as the HTC One M8, HTC One M9+ and others.
However, at the HTC U11+ launch the company president Chialin Chang, reportedly confirmed that HTC will launch dual rear camera smartphones in 2018. This falls in line with the aforementioned claims.
“We’ll definitely be releasing a dual-camera phone next year, but we’ll need to figure out how to make this feature stand out,” Chang told media executives at the event.
