The world’s first crowd-sourced smartphone will have these features

56647094In December last year, Chinese smartphone maker ZTE announced that it needed ideas from the general public to manufacture a unique smartphone to be launched this year. Known as Project CSX (Crowd Source X), a prototype of the smartphone was showcased at the CES 2017 tradeshow. Now, the company has gone ahead and revealed a few specifications that the device will feature.
According to ZTE, Project CSX or Hawkeye, will be running Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It will feature a 5.5-inch full-HD display and will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 625 CPU with a 3GB RAM.
The smartphone will support dual-SIM connectivity along with a 32GB storage capacity, which can be expanded up to 256GB with the help of a microSD. On the camera front, the smartphone is expected to feature dual rear cameras with 12MP and 13MP sensors with optical zoom. An 8MP front-facing camera is also expected on the front.
As per ZTE, Hawkeye will be backed by a 3,000mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 2.0 technology. Apart from a USB Type-C port, the smartphone will sport a fingerprint sensor at the rear along with NFC connectivity.
The company has already showcased how the smartphone will look like on its Kickstarter page. It added that the name and colour of the device has been chosen based on consumer responses from over 176 countries around the world.
Interestingly, two key features submitted by creative designers (who won a Project CSX competition) are screen scrolling (based on Eye-Tracking) and the ability to stick to walls and other surfaces with a self-adhesive case.
The smartphone is currently under development and is expected to launch sometime in September this year. Kickstarter backers can pre-order the smartphone for $199 from the website. The price, however will change once the device is launched as per the company.
