SanDisk launches world’s ‘most powerful’ microSD card

Digital-owned Sandisk has launched – what they claim is the world’s highest-capacity microSD card for use in mobile devices – a 400GB Ultra microSDXC UHS-I at IFA 2017.
Priced at $249.99, this SD card comes with a 10-year warranty from Sandisk. The company also is claiming that this card is capable of transferring content at high speed up to 100MB/s that includes transfer 1,200 high-quality photographs in a minute.
“Mobile devices have become the epicenter of our lives, and consumers are now accustomed to using their smartphones for anything from entertainment to business. We are collecting and sharing massive amounts of data on smartphones, drones, tablets, PCs, laptops and more. We anticipate that storage needs will only continue to grow as people continue to expect more sophisticated features on their devices and desire higher quality content,” Jeff Janukowicz, research vice president, IDC. “We estimate mobile device users worldwide will install over 150 billion applications alone this year, which require a ton of memory on all of our favorite devices.”
Priced at Rs 18,990, the microSD card can hold up to 24 hours of full HD video and offer transfer speeds of up to 95MB/s and offer random read input-output access per second (IOPS) of 1,500 and write IOPS of 500. The A1 standard support also means that the apps stored in microSD card load much faster.
As for Extreme PRO USB 3.1 flash drive, it comes in 256GB and 128GB storage capacities and is priced at Rs 13,990 and Rs 8,490 respectively. SanDisk Extreme Go USB 3.1 Flash Drive is available in 128GB and 64GB storage capacities at Rs 5,990 and Rs 3,990 respectively. Both the USB drives support SSD speed.
