Samsung To Soon Go The Xiaomi Way In India: Report

xiomiSamsung seems to be taking a leaf from rival Xiaomi’s book. The South Korean manufacturer reportedly has plans to sell its smartphones online-only, a strategy made popular by Xiaomi.

According to a report by Korea Times newspaper, Samsung plans to sell its smartphones via leading e-commerce websites in India, Vietnam and China.

Citing supply chain sources, the report says that Samsung aims to save on sales costs through its new online-only plan. Moreover, this means that Samsung will be able to sell its products cheaper to the consumers.

“As Samsung is shifting its focus towards budget handsets in Asia, it intends to implement the direct online sales marketing strategy in selected countries. This strategy will be effective for Samsung to up its share at less cost,” the source said in the report.

In India, Motorola was the first company to sell its smartphones via the online-only sales model. Xiaomi followed the same path, followed by the likes of Lenovo, Huawei etc. Samsung last year sold its Galaxy K Zoom smartphone via only the Amazon website in India.
