Samsung may have made the Apple iPhone X expensive

Earlier this week, Apple launched its tenth anniversary edition iPhone called iPhone X. The smartphone comes at a starting price tag of $999 (64GB) in the US. As per a report by a Chinese website, some industry insiders have researched and claimed to have estimated manufacturing cost of all the components used in the special edition iPhone.

The report claims that the $999 iPhone X components may have cost the company $412.75, which is around 60% of the MRP cost of the handset. The report further adds that the most expensive component used in the iPhone X is the 5.8-inch OLED screen by Samsung, which costs $80 per unit. The second costliest component is being said to be the NAND memory by Toshiba, costing $45 for 256GB. The 3GB RAM chip is said to be priced at $24.

The company’s new A11 Bionic chipset is expected to cost $26 while the modem by Qualcomm is said to come at $18 per unit. Furthermore, the report says that the iPhone X 3D sensor costs $25, while the glass over the screen is said to be priced at $18.
