Samsung Galaxy X with foldable display passes another certification website, may arrive next year

After Apple’s iPhone X, Samsung is now rumoured to bring its own ‘Samsung X’ smartphone next year. The highlight of the smartphone is said to be its foldable screen. The device reportedly was spotted in Bluetooth certification listing earlier this year and now is spotted in South Korea’s NRA certification or National Radio Agency, reports Android Guys.

The Samsung Galaxy X is said to come with a model number SM-G888N0 and is being called as ‘Project Valley’ internally.

While there is no word as to when exactly the company plans to launch the upcoming smartphone, the listing at least confirms the existence of the device. Rumours indicate the Samsung X foldable smartphone may arrive some time in 2018.

As reported by Associated Press earlier this month, Koh Dong-jin, president of mobile business at Samsung Electronics seemingly confirmed that a foldable smartphone is coming next year (2018). It was also mentioned that the smartphone will arrive under the Galaxy ‘Note’ branding.

However, it was also mentioned that several hurdles were being faced in making the final product with bendable display. If these are not solved, the handset’s arrival could be pushed back. “As the head of the business, I can say our current goal is next year,” said Koh. “When we can overcome some problems for sure, we will launch the product.”

However, it was not revealed what exact problems Samsung is facing to make a bendable display handset. Samsung back in 2013 showcased prototype devices with bendable displays, calling it ‘Youm’.

Meanwhile, Samsung made its Galaxy Note 8 available for users in India a few days back. The Galaxy Note 8 comes in just one variant and costs Rs 67,900. It is worth adding that those who pre-ordered the Galaxy Note 8 get wireless charger free and one-time screen replacement guarantee.
