Samsung Galaxy S8+ stays behind the iPhone 7 Plus in new benchmark results

57451978Samsung has not yet officially announced its upcoming flagship smartphone(s), but one of them has showed up on Geekbench benchmarking website. The listing highlights a device going by the name Samsung SM-G955U, which is expected to be the Galaxy S8+. It shows details about the device’s chipset, Android OS version and RAM. Not just that, the smartphone’s scores based on single-core and multi-core performance are also listed.
As per the listing, the alleged Samsung Galaxy S8+ will run Android 7.0 Nougat out-of-the-box and as expected, will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor clubbed with 4GB of RAM. Interestingly though, the handset still lags behind Apple’s current flagship iPhone 7 Plus when it comes to processing performance.
The listing reveals the alleged Samsung flagship having a single-core performance score of 1929. This is quite less than Apple iPhone 7 Plus’ single-core performance score of 3305.
However, the yet-to-be-launched Galaxy S8+ (if it’s indeed the handset in the listing), shines multi-core performance with a score of 6804. In comparison, Apple’s iPhone 7 Plus’ score is just 5405.
Samsung recently revealed the launch date of its Galaxy S8 flagship smartphone at its Mobile World Congress event. The company also launched two new tablets – Galaxy Tab S3 and Galaxy Book, at the event.
The ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event will take place on March 29 11:00 AM EDT (08.30 PM IST) in New York, USA. The launch event will also be live streamed on the company’s website.
So far, the Galaxy S8 hasn’t proven to be company’s best-kept secret. The smartphone has already appeared in several alleged leaked images and third-party listings.
