Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to launch in mid-August

South Korean tech giant Samsung launched the flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones earlier this year. The company is now working on its next premium phablet – Galaxy Note 8 – expected to launch around mid-August this year.

According to a report by a Korean publication, The Bell, the smartphone is expected to be launched ahead of IFA 2017. The report also suggests that Galaxy Note 8 will be equipped with a dual rear camera setup, comprised of two 13MP modules.

Recently, an online report suggested that Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will be powered by Qualcomm’s yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 836 processor and have a 6.3-inch Infinity display. It’s also likely to offer 6GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

Back in March, a website called CNBeta shared the schematics and specifications of the upcoming flagship phablet. Based on the schematics, it can be assumed that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 8 will share the same ‘Infinity’ display that’s in the S8 and S8+.

There is likely to be an S-Pen as well, which might come with better features than its predecessors. A microSD/SIM card tray is also visible on the top, along with a dedicated button (most likely for activating Samsung’s Bixby virtual assistant) on the left. The schematics detail a facial recognition sensor and a front facing camera as well.

Samsung recently launched two new smartphones in India. Part of the company’s J series, the two handsets – Galaxy J7 Max and Galaxy J7 Pro – are priced at Rs 17,900 and Rs 20,900 respectively. Both handsets come in Black and Gold colour variants and will be available across retail stores. While J7 Max will be available from June 20, the J7 Pro will hit the shelves starting mid-July.
