Ravi Shankar Prasad Announces Products In Line With The Digital India Week

It seems that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s dream of ravi-shankar-prasadDigital India will soon come true. In the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Telecom Minister Ravishankar Prasad, the Digital India Week was launched in New Delhi on July 1.

In the same line, four world-class broadband products were introduced by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT)on July 6.

Union Minister for Communication and IT, Ravi Shankar Prasad launched the products in the presence of his Kenyan counterpart, Cabinet Secretary, ICT in an event organized at C-DOT Campus, New Delhi.

The newly launched products comprise solar powered Wi-Fi hotspots and long distance Wi-Fi including 100 Gbps optical fibre cable (OFC). Interestingly, the solar powered Wi-Fi has been introduced to resolve the connectivity issues of hilly terrains, tunnels, dense vegetation and highways. The larger goal of Digital India is to release more innovative savvy products for people even in private sectors and improve services in health, education and banking sectors.

With an aim to empower the people of rural areas, the government is all set to bring all 250,000 villages under broadband services. Prasad also announced that Digital India is more related to poor and the unprivileged. Meanwhile, his Kenyan counterpart said that his nation is “closely following the Digital India.”
