PepperTap Stops Operations in 10 Cities
PepperTap, the grocery delivery app is shutting down its operations in ten locations. Mumbai, Chennai and Kolkata are a part of this list. The app has the backing of online retailer Snapedeal and venture fund Sequoia Capital.
PepperTap will continue to operate in eight cities and suburbs of the total 18 that it had its presence in. The move is as a result of it cutting costs in light of a fund crisis in crowded sectors which include hyperlocal as well as food delivery.
The founder of the company and CEO Navneet Singh has confirmed that it is closing operations throug cities. A majority of the company’s workforce, its delivery fleet, were on contract and have been asked to leave, as per Mr Singh.
He said “Even though PepperTap has been able to establish itself as a leading hyperlocal grocery delivery service over the last one year, given the short- to mid-term investment climate outlook, we have decided to focus on depth rather than breadth. We are digging our heels in for the long term. We will focus on building a stellar customer experience by providing additional categories and services that differentiate us from our competition in cities where we continue to operate.”
PepperTap, however, is going to continue with its operations in Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad, Pune, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Bangalore.
