OnePlus 5 will be smaller and more compact than the OnePlus 3T, new teaser confirms

OnePlus has been teasing its OnePlus 5 smartphone since quite some time now. The company CEO Pete Lau too has confirmed some features of the upcoming smartphone. Now the latest teaser coming from the company gives a hint about OnePlus 5’s size and dimensions.
From the new teaser posted on the company’s official Twitter handle, it appears that the OnePlus 5 smartphone will be smaller and more compact than the current-generation OnePlus 3T. The teaser image shows the OnePlus 3T smartphone kept over the OnePlus 5, completely hidden under the shadows of the former. “Look into the shadows. What do you 5ee?” reads the tweet.
Though no other detail about the smartphone has been shared, the company’s CEO Pete Lau recently said in a Weibo post that the OnePlus 5 will be one of the thinnest flagship smartphones .
Based on Google translation, the post reads “Remember after OnePlus 3 release, a lot of media to get the phone first words were “Oh wow, very light, feel good. OnePlus 5 I believe is the most thin flagship phone, and without sacrificing other experience. This is pondering every day, and constantly adjust it after the 0.05mm output value.”
No specific measurements are though given, it can be assumed that the smartphone will be thinner than the OnePlus 3T, which is 7.3mm thin. For reference, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the iPhone 7 Plus are 8mm and 7.3mm thin. The last year’s Moto Z flagship smartphone is 5.19mm thin.
Since the smartphone is thinner and smaller than the OnePlus 3T, it is also likely that it will be lighter as well. The OnePlus 3T weighs around 158gm.
This statement from CEO Lau comes after his tweet mentioning that the OnePlus 3T and the OnePlus 3 will be receiving the brand new Android O update. This indirectly means that the upcoming OnePlus 5 too will get the new OS at some point later this year or next year. The smartphone will, however, most likely to aunch with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
