OnePlus 5 gets benchmarked, 8 GB RAM variant confirmed

It seems like everything about the upcoming OnePlus 5 smartphone will be out before it’s officially launched. We already know majority of the details about the handset, courtesy of numerous online leaks and even tweets posted by the company’s CEO Pete Lau. Now, the smartphone has made an appearance on GeekBench benchmarking website, re-confirming some of the existing rumours.
According to the listing, at least one variant of OnePlus 5 will have 8GB of RAM. The company hasn’t revealed whether one variant of the smartphone will be launched or more.
However, based on OnePlus’ past launches, it’s very much possible that there will be two variants of OnePlus 5 based on RAM and internal storage.
The listing further reveals that the smartphone will run Android 7.1.1 Nougat-based Oxygen OS. Obviously, the handset will be upgraded to Android O when the new OS version becomes available. For those unaware, the company CEO Pete Lau has already announced that both OnePlus 3T and OnePlus 3 will be receiving Android O later this year.
Lastly, the smartphone, codenamed OnePlus A5000 in the listing, is listed with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 (msm8998) processor, something which has already been confirmed by both OnePlus and Qualcomm. The smartphone scores 6575 and 1914 in multi-core and single-core performance respectively.
It is worth adding that OnePlus 5 was recently listed on AnTuTu website as well. The listing reveals the inclusion of the aforementioned processor, Android version and codename. The handset, however, was listed with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Other details include 16MP rear and front cameras, and Full HD display.
For those unaware, OnePlus 5 will be launched on June 22 in Mumbai, India at 2PM. Interested users can log in to the dedicated website – oneplusstore.in/launch2017 – and register their phone numbers. Following this, they’ll be able to get SMS alerts and a chance to win a OnePlus 5 smartphone.
