NVIDIA Has Come With A Fastest Mobile Computing Chip

NVIDIA has come with a fastest mobile computing chip. This super-chip Nvidiafrom NVIDIA delivers the processing speed of one teraflop. Company has named this super-chip has Tegra X1, it is based on Maxwell GPU architecture.

NVIDIA Tegra X1 is an octa-core processor. It consists of 4x ARM Cortex A57 and 4x ARM Cortex A53 and is coupled with 256-core Maxwell GPU, which supports the recording of 4K resolution video at 60fps with 1.3 gigapixel camera throughput. The GPU also supports H.256, H.264 and VP9 video codec. The chip is based on 20mm process. Tegra X1 is faster than the predecessor processor that company had flaunted in last year at CES, it was based on Kepler architecture.

NVIDIA has released the official press release that claims Tegra X1 is as fast as ASCI Red, which is world’s first teraflop computer. ASCI Red supercomputer occupied 1600 sq feet of space and consumed 500,000 watts of power while, NVIDIA’s Tegra X1 is size of a thumbnail and consumes just 10 watts of power. NVIDIA showcased the demo of Tegra X1 by running Elemental game at CES2015 in Las Vegas yesterday. Tegra X1 has great gaming capabilities, it supports Unreal Engine 4, DirectX 12, OpenGL 4.5, CUDA, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Android Extension Pack. Company has plans of embedding this chip in mobile devices, autonomous machines and automotive products. We can hope to see products running this giant super-fast processor from first half of 2015.
