LG G6 to launch in India on April 24
LG is all set to launch its newest flagship smartphone — G6 — in India. The company has sent out media invites for a launch event scheduled for April 24, where it will unveil the smartphone. The invite reads, ‘LG Electronics invites you to be part of the LG Full Vision Showcase’.
According to Mumbai-based retailer Mahesh Telecom, the smartphone will be priced at around Rs 53,000. It’s expected to be available for pre-booking before April 30.
First launched at MWC 2017, LG G6 comes in Ice Platinum, Atro Black and Mystic White colour options. It has a metallic body with chamfered edges. The smartphone is also IP68 rated for water and dust resistance.
The all-new LG G6 runs the company’s UX 6.0 skin, based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It sports a unique 5.7-inch ‘Full Vision’ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 1440×2880 pixels. What’s interesting is that the smartphone has a form factor of a 5.2-inch handset.
According to the company, LG G6 includes a feature that allows users to view 16:9 aspect ratio content in 18:9 format. It is also the world’s first smartphone with Dolby Vision viewing technology.
Delivering processing muscle to the G6 is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset, paired with 4GB of RAM. There’s also 32GB of internal storage.
For imaging duties, LG G6 comes with a dual-camera setup at the back.
Comprising two 13MP sensor modules, the rear camera arrangement is complemented by laser autofocus, triple-axis OIS and LED flash. Users can also shoot 4K resolution videos. For selfie-lovers out there, a 5MP front shooter is also available with 100-degree wide angle lens and f/2.2 aperture.
LG says that it has enhanced the camera UX for the G6 as well. The camera app makes it possible to click images and review them simultaneously. There’s also a ‘Square Camera’ feature which divides the 18:9 display into two identical perfect squares.
Weighing 163g, LG G6 is backed by a 3,300mAh battery. Wireless charging is also included.
