Lenovo reveals Blade, its new concept laptop

Chinese smartphone brand Lenovo has given a sneak peek into a new concept laptop, termed Blade. The 2-in-1 laptop has been listed on the iF World Design Guide Awards’ website, along with the images and a small description. As per the images, Lenovo Blade comes with a built-in kickstand, similar to the ones that Microsoft’s Surface Pro hybrids have. The kickstand also acts as a cover for the device.

Based on the design, three usage scenarios seem possible for the Blade’s kickstand. It can act as a cover to protect the display, or can be flipped to use the Blade in tablet mode. Lastly, it can be used to prop the device up for working in laptop mode. Lenovo Blade is also expected to feature Miracast wireless display technology, which will make it possible to connect the 2-in-1 to external displays. In addition, the hybrid may come with a keyboard accessory that will attach using magnets.

“The Blade’s pad site has a unique cover design featuring magnetic force to slide it freely for various user viewing angles and in order to suit all pad and laptop scenarios. The Blade’s system site features a smart connector with an accurate mechanism structure to make attachment or detachment of the pad easy and smooth. The Blade can also connect with other devices with Wi-Fi certified Miracast to be a new pad product,” reads the description on the website.

According to the website, Lenovo Blade will launch ‘After 2017′ as the device can take a development time of ’25-36 months’. The description on the website also states that the target markets for Blade laptop are Africa, Asia, Australia/Oceania, Europe, North America and South America.
