Lenovo launches Legion Y520 and Y720 gaming laptops, price starting Rs 92,490

To increase its foothold in the booming gaming laptop segment in India, Lenovo has debuted its ‘Legion’ gaming series in the country. The line-up includes two models – Y520 and Y720 – with base prices of Rs 92,490 and Rs 1,49,990 respectively.
Both laptops can be purchased from Flipkart as well as Lenovo’s own online store. For now, the company has started pre-bookings for the laptops. However, the exact dates as to when the laptops will hit the shelves have not been revealed.
The Windows -10 based Legion Y520 sports a 15.6-inch Full HD IPS AG display and is powered by an Intel ‘Kaby Lake’ Core i7-7700HQ processor. This is complimented by 8GB of RAM. To handle graphics, the laptop comes with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 GPU with dedicated 4GB GDDR5 RAM.
The Y520 includes a 1TB hard drive and a 128GB SSD storage. Besides a 720p built-in camera with array mic, the gaming laptop also supports two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 2.0 port, USB Type-C (3.0) port, 4-in-1 card reader, HDMI and WLAN.
To enhance gameplay, Lenovo is also offering 2x2Watt Harman speakers with Dolby Audio Premium audio technology. Weighing 2.4kg, the laptop is claimed to deliver up to 4 hours of life.
The Y520 has a premium version that costs Rs 1,04,990. The only difference is that it comes with 16GB of RAM and 8GB of graphics memory with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU.
On the other hand, the Legion Y720 shares majority of its specifications with its younger sibling. The only differences are in RAM, GPU, storage and battery. The laptop comes with 16GB of DDR4 RAM, along with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU having 6GB of DDR5 RAM. As for the storage, the gaming laptop includes a 2TB hard drive and 256GB of SSD storage. There’s a larger battery as well, claimed to deliver 5 hours of use on a single charge.
Lenovo’s Legion line-up is likely to go against HP’s Omen series, which debuted in India earlier this year.
