Lenovo K6 Power first look
Chinese smartphone maker Lenovo has an impressive array of budget smartphones. And, with the launch of K6 Power, it has further added to its budget smartphone range. Priced at Rs 9,999, the smartphone is available exclusively on Flipkart. The device is slated to go on sale starting noon, December 6 and will be available in Gold, Dark Gray and Silver colour variants.
The highlight of the K6 Power is its large 4,000mAh battery. The smartphone is claimed to deliver up to 13.6 hours of video playback and 649 hours on standby.
At its price tag, K6 Power takes on the likes of Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 3 and Honor’s Holly 3. A resemblance in terms of design and specifications are just one of the many similarities between them. However, K6 Power sports a more compact form factor as compared to others.
The smartphone features a 5-inch Full HD display with 1080×1920 pixel resolution. In the limited time spent with the smartphone, we found the display to be average, although the brightness range was impressive.
It supports dual nano-SIM cards, with one of them doubling up as a microSD card slot (thereby making it a hybrid card slot). The device runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow with Lenovo’s Pure UI, which pretty much resembles stock Android with minor tweaks.
If you’ve been using a Lenovo-branded smartphone (Vibe UI), you may find a few changes in the interface. However, since it’s been simplified further, users won’t face much of a difficulty in getting used to it.Other features include dual apps and app lock.
K6 Power is supported by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. It comes in 2GB/3GB RAM and 16GB/32GB internal storage configurations. Indian buyers will, however, have to do with the variant that sports a 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage.
Although the smartphone uses a processor which was launched last year, we didn’t find any stuttering in between apps. However, we can make a complete judgement on the device’s performance only after reviewing it.
The smartphone sports a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front camera for selfies. We tested the rear sensor in low-light conditions and found the images to be decent. The front camera too was just about average.
The dual-SIM device comes equipped with a fingerprint sensor placed at the back, just below the camera along with Dolby Atmos-powered speakers. It also supports 4G LTE bands in India and comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and micro USB 2.0 as connectivity options.
Lenovo had launched K6 Power along with K6 and K6 Note at the IFA keynote event in Berlin earlier this year. While speaking to Gadgets Now, Sudhin Mathur, director-smartphones, Lenovo Mobiles Business Group, added that the company will also launch the K6 Note in India soon. However, he didn’t reveal the exact date when the device will be launched in India.
