Honor 7X to get a red colour variant and facial unlock function

Honor’s much-talked about budget smartphone, Honor 7X, has got a new limited edition Red colour variant. The company plans to release only 20,000 units of the Red variant of Honor 7X, and even though the details about the availability are yet to be confirmed, the special variant is expected to be available as soon as next month.

The handset has just made its way to US at $199 and is already available in India since about a month in Gold, Blue and Black colour options.

The handset has already garnered a lot of attention for providing impressive specs at an affordable price. Adding to the features of the 7X is that the handset is set to get facial unlock feature in the first quarter of 2018, through an OTA update. The news was tweeted by the US handle of Honor smartphone brand. After this OTA update, the Honor 7X would become the cheapest handset to come with this feature.

Successor to the Honor 6X, the handset was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 12,999, for the base model offering 32GB inbuilt storage. The 64GB storage model is priced at Rs 15,999. The smartphone is exclusively available on Amazon India.

In terms of specs, the device has a 5.93-inch full HD+ 18:9 aspect ratio display of 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution. It sports an 8MP front facing snapper with special selfie enhancing feature. On the back, it has a dual rear camera setup of 16MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera with LED flash. The handset runs Android 7.0 Nougat operating system topped with EMUI 5.1 and is powered by company;s own 2.36GHz octa-core Kirin 659 processor with MaliT830-MP2 GPU. Backed by a 3,340mAh battery, the device offers 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS/ A-GPS, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and Micro-USB port as connectivity options.
