Here come ‘Awareness Of Things’ Gadgets

Welcome a new class of mobile device that is tiny, quite inexpensive and provides a whole set of information awareness about your stuff. They are not wearable and also not “Internet of Things”. They don’t even enhance the functionality of your device, but what they do is can be applied creatively in a huge number of jobs. They are the “awareness of things” devices and basically are the sensor based devices to work with a smartphone to keep you informed about what is going on with your projects, hobbies and other concerning stuff. Let’s take a look at some of the examples of them.

Dot is a beacon type of micro locator that is far more accurate than dddGPS, Wi-Fi hotspot proximity or cell tower triangulation. It is highly beneficial while used in commercial places, departmental stores, concert halls, sports stadiums and also in starbuks. It is another device that can easily stick to anything. You can do many interesting things with it such as if there is a package at your door it will show solid green or flash red if there is a rain forecast.

The device basically makes your smartphone do what you have instructed to it when it is close to Dot. Due to its open source utilities, it provides the extra functionality. Its treplacable battery lasts for six months. Dot can be simply integrated with a wide variety of smart home platforms like Samsung’s SmartThings, Philips Hue, Belkin or WeMo devices along with Apple TV and Chromecast.

Dot is working on open source utilities to give Dot beacons extra functionality. They’ve already got a few, including one that opens your daily agenda when you sit down at your desk and another that launches Netflix when you sit on the couch. When Dot launches, the company promises integration with a wide variety of smart-home platforms, including Philips Hue, Samsung’s SmartThings, plus Belkin and WeMo devices. It also integrates with Chromecast and Apple TV.

TrackR

When attached to your stuff like keys, wallets, backpack, bike or trackdog, it helps you to track them with the free app. Now it is much easier to locate the things lost in your home as it sounds an alarm on your phone so that you can find them easier. It can be used as the reverse also. A TrackR also indicates the presence and the availability of someone else’s TrackR nearby you.

Tile Slim
This is another TrackR like device is ideal for wallets. It is very slim sper-copyin the size as its battery is not replaceable, but don’t worry, once installed, a tile Slim can normally work for the period of a whole year.
