Google Released first Android based TV device on Wednesday!

ITVoice News: Google for the Nexus Player’s content has already tied up with different network partners including Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Bloomberg TV, Food Network, Vevo, tune in, Travel Channel, TED, and Plex.

images (1)Google released its new Nexus line of products on Wednesday, which involves the launch of Nexus 6 smartphone, Nexus 9 tablet and the first Android based TV device, Nexus Player, a set-top streaming box.

The Google Nexus Player, manufactured by Taiwan’s Asus is a TV set-top box which accompanies a gamepad controller, which will be sold separately and has been engineered for fine-tuned control of Android games. Google has confirmed that the device will be available for pre-order from 17 October for $99, while gamepad will cost around $39 in US. It will be available to buy from 3 November.

Sundar Pichai, SVP, Android, Chrome & Apps, noted in a blog post, “With Nexus Player you can play Android games on your HDTV with a gamepad, then keep playing on your phone while you’re on the road. Nexus Player is Google Cast Ready so you can cast your favorite entertainment from almost any Chromebook or Android or iOS phone or tablet to your TV.

The search giant touted the product as to be a “streaming media player for movies, music and videos”. The device supports a voice-activated remote and packs almost all that Android has got to offer, including apps, games, multimedia capabilities and more.

To talk about the features, Google Nexus Player is powered by a 64-bit 1.8GHz quad-core Intel Atom ‘Silvermont’ processor, backed up by 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage space and on connectivity front it supports, Wi-Fi 802.11ac 2×2 (MIMO) and Bluetooth 4.1 options. The device also packs, Imagination PowerVR Series 6 Graphics (2D/3D) Engine.

Notably, Google for the Nexus Player’s content has already tied up different network partners including Netflix, Hulu, Pandora, Bloomberg TV, Food Network, Vevo, tune in, Travel Channel, TED, and Plex. It has even got Google Cast or Chromecast features on board.
