Google Home and Google Wi-Fi: Specs, Price and more
Google at its Made by Google keynote event announced a new Wifi router along with a voice-based device powered by its ‘Assistant’ – Home. With the launch of Google Home, the company comes in direct competition with Amazon’s Echo.
Google Assistant, Alexa and Siri are competing to take the top stop amongst each other as more and more people search the web and get work done by giving voice commands.
With Google Home, users can play songs, flip radio stations, and access favourite their playlists by giving an ‘Ok Google’ voice command. Music from Google Play Music, Pandora, Spotify, TuneIn, and YouTube Music are accessible through the device.
“Google Home taps into the power of Google Search to give you real-time answers to things you want to know,” exclaimed Ken Mixter (from Google’s software team), on a company blog post. “Ask Google Home to translate phrases and do simple math calculations,” he adds. Additionally users can control other devices in the house using Google Home. They can also control the volume of the speakers with Chrome cast Audio plugged in or can stream videos on the television with Chrome cast connectivity.
It sports a clean design with a capacitive touch surface, and with no buttons or hidden LED lights. The device will be available in the US starting November this year. Users can pre-order it for $129 from Google Store. Six months of YouTube Red can also be availed for free as a welcome offer.
The search giant also announced Google WiFi, through which the company claims to deliver a “fast signal in every room, on every device” for users. It is an expandable system to connect one router to another in order to make WiFi signals stronger.
