Gamesa Secures 15 Mw Solar Project In Tamil Nadu

The solar project will be commissioned in the first quarter of 2016

Gamesa, a leading player in the renewable energy space, today announced its latest solar project totalling 15 MW Gamesain the state of Tamil Nadu. This is the second project that Gamesa India has secured in its home market, bringing its overall solar portfolio to over 48 MW. Under this contract, Gamesa will be responsible for engineering & design, supply of inverters, erection and commissioning of the 15MW solar farm. The project is expected to be commissioned with in the first quarter of 2016 in Puddukotai, Tamil Nadu.

Speaking about the new win, Mr. Ramesh Kymal, Chairman and Managing Director, Gamesa India said, “Today India is one of the most promising markets for solar energy and we have entered the solar business at the right time given our unparalleled O&M service network and project capabilities. This being our third project overall, will help us harness the huge solar potential in the country.”

Sharing his thoughts on the new win, Mr. K.V. Sajay, Executive Vice President – Solar Business Unit, Gamesa India, said, “Given that this is our second solar project in Tamil Nadu, it is testimony to the progress we have made since our entry into the solar space in July last year. Our capabilities in the solar value chain include Solar EPC solutions for MW Scale Solar projects, Roof-Top solar projects and Rural/Micro-Grid Projects besides continuing to expand our Inverter Solutions.”

Drawing its expertise from wind, Gamesa India entered into Solar business in 2015 offering a wide spectrum of Solar Energy Solutions spanning across Utility Scale Solar Projects, Rooftop Based Solar EPC, Micro Grids – Rural Electrification and Solar Asset Management backed by its robust MW scale central inverters. As of today, Gamesa India has commissioned 9MW of solar power projects in India and Gamesa group has commissioned 200 MW of Solar power projects through its strategic tie ups and supplied Photovoltaic inverters serving more than 150 MW of Solar installations globally.
