It has tied up with Hero Motors and Piaggio for the sale of motorcycles and mini trucks. It is also associating with Mahindra and Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki and Datsun for online sales of its vehicles.
According to Anil Goteti, vice president, business at Flipkart, “There is a paradigm shift in the way people shop online today, with more and more unconventional categories like automobiles and auto accessories, small home appliances, personal care and jewellery gaining popularity.”
The shift towards online sales of automobiles is in an effort to provide a wide range of products to the customers and to retain them within the platform.
