DigitalOcean, world’s fastest growing cloud platform, hosted the 4th edition of its flagship event TIDE, in association with NASSCOM 10,000 startups at ITC Gardenia Hotel, Bangalore. The day-long conference featured multiple speaker sessions and panel discussions by Industry experts, cloud practitioners and ecosystem leaders, ranging from CTOs, Founders and VCs, giving an opportunity to startups and developers from the community to interact and learn from these experts.

The keynote, presented by Bala Girisaballa, President, Techstars India on “Making India the World’s Startup Nation” spoke about the need to take businesses global. He also highlighted how the vibrant ecosystem of new generation of start-ups and entrepreneurs in India are developing world class products from Tier II markets to address the need to sell not only to India, but beyond.

The conference had panelists speaking about a diverse and interesting set of topics ranging from “Technology as the Secret Sauce to scaling businesses”, ” Building an Ecosystem where Startups thrive”, “Choosing the right businesses to fund: The Investor Dilemma” and also a panel for startups from DigitalOcean’s Hatch program to share learnings from their startup journey.

The event was attended by notable speakers such as Janakiram MSV (Cloud Industry Thought Leader), Arjun Pratap (CEO, Edge Networks), Ajeya Motaganahalli (Leader, NetApp Excellerator), Amit Singh (Co-Founder & MD, Headstart Network) and Nikhil Kapur (Principal, GREE Ventures).

Prabhakar Jayakumar, Country Director, DigitalOcean said, “One of DigitalOcean’s core values is that our community is bigger than us. TIDE gives us an opportunity to connect with the developer and startup community. The 4th edition of TIDE hosted serial entrepreneurs, investors, ecosystem enablers and some of the best developers in Bengaluru, bringing out key insights on how to successfully scale businesses on the cloud and how developers are building new global business models from India.”

Kritika Murugesan, Director, NASSCOM 10,000 Startups commented, “We have observed a paradigm shift in the demographic age of entrepreneur applicants. Earlier we used to receive applications from entrepreneurs in the age bracket of 22-25 years, as compared to the current scenario of 32- 36 years. Ecosystem like us and Hatch (DigitalOcean’s  program for startups) are designed as a support system to these startups and help them mature. As a first sign of maturity, we are already receiving multiple queries on how many channels we can provide them to build their customer base, which is a positive sign.”

Amongst the customers of DigitalOcean, Arijit Lahiri, Co-Founder, Quodeck said, “DigitalOcean has done a great job in implementing products and features that can be integrated for enterprise-focused businesses like Quodeck. What I also liked is the simplicity and affordability of infrastructure created by DigitalOcean.”

Addressing the startup founders and developers on how to run a successful business, Murali Tirupati, Co-founder & CEO, Vaultedge said, “Mentors as a support system play an important role in building a right foundation for the business. The best way to build a successful business is with a strong foundation, whether that includes a strong founding team or partnering with a strong infrastructure provider like DigitalOcean.”
