Chrome 28 Released With Built-In Google Translate For Android

ChromeAnother add-on is fullscreen support on tablets: when you scroll, the top toolbar vanishes to allow you to see more Web page content

Just a day after launching Chrome 28 on the desktop, Google announced the release of Chrome 28 for Android, which comes with in-built Google Translate support and fullscreen support on tablets. The latest version is available on Google Play.

Google Translate integration is certainly the key addition. This allows users to translate a page in a language, which has not been set as your default on your phone or tablet. You just need to tap the “Translate” button. To use this functionality on the desktop, you have a similar built-in translation to quickly scan a Web page, which you may not be able to understand otherwise. This can be also used while you’re on the go.

Another addon is fullscreen support on tablets: when you scroll, the top toolbar vanishes to allow you to see more Web page content. This feature was earlier introduced in Chrome 27 for Android phones, which now bears a “+” in the toolbar to create new tabs.

Here’s the changelog for full Chrome 28 for Android:

Google Translate – While reading web pages in other languages, Chrome can automatically identify and offer to translate the content in your language.

Fullscreen on tablets – Just like images, you need to simply scroll down the page and the toolbar will vanish.

New user interface for right-to-left (RTL) languages- An optimized interface for RTL languages including such as Arabic, Farsi, and Hebrew.

Increased stability and performance fixes.

The changelog has not included that Google aims at activating its experimental data compression service for Chrome 28 “over the coming days.” This will provide you better bandwidth, faster page loading, and secure browsing experience on your phone or tablet by optimizing the pages you visit.

Though it’s not clear which of the features listed here will be included on Chrome for iOS, but version 28 is likely to hit Apple’s App Store in the next few days.
