Asus announces its MWC 2018 event; likely to unveil Zenfone 5 series

The Mobile World Congress is around the corner and the smartphone makers have started sending out media invites for the launch of their new devices. Last week Samsung revealed that it will launch the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ on February 25 and now Asus has also announced the dates of its launch.

The company has sent out media invites for its Mobile World Congress (2018) event in Barcelona. The company has scheduled the event for February 27. The Asus MWC 2018 event will start at 7.30PM CET (12:00 AM IST February 28th) on February 27. The company will live stream the event on its official website.

The invite sent by the company reads, “#BACKTO5 with the number 5 and also has “We Love Photo” tag same as the ZenFone 4 series.” The invite also consists the image of Qualcomm Snapdragon. This hints that the upcoming Asus Zenfone 5 smartphone could be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon processor.

Recently, an Asus smartphone with ASUS_X00QD passed WiFi certification. Likely to be called Asus Zenfone 5 Max, the smartphone is expected to run Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box. Apart from this, no other information about the smartphone’s specs is available yet. However, like the other Zenfone Max smartphones this one is also expected to pack a massive battery.

Earlier this month, Asus also slashed the price of seven of its Zenfone smartphones in India. The smartphones that received a price cut include ZenFone 3 (5.2), ZenFone 3 (5.5), ZenFone Max, ZenFone 3 Max (5.2), ZenFone 3 Max (5.5), ZenFone Go (5.0), and ZenFone Go (5.5).
