Apple ‘iPhone X’ may be the official name of the iPhone 8

Apple’s upcoming iPhone has got several monikers in the past. Until recently everyone called it the ‘iPhone 8’ but it looks like the official name could be something else. According to a report by iCulture website, the upcoming iPhone may be called the ‘iPhone X’. It has been mentioned that the bezel-less ‘iPhone X’ device will be pronounced as the iPhone 10.
The report cites a ‘reliable source’ who earlier gave the correct information about the 10.5-inch iPad model a week before its launch.
Naturally, there is no official announcement by Apple. We’ll be seeing what the Cupertino-based firm has up its sleeve on September 12. The reason behind the all new naming scheme is the 10-year anniversary of the iPhone. The ‘iPhone X’ moniker has made some rounds on the web before but eventually faded away with news reports settling for ‘iPhone 8’.
While this was for the bezel-less iPhone, the iCulture report also talks about the other two smartphones that Apple will be launching in the same event. The two smartphones were until now being termed as the ‘iPhone 7S’ and the ‘iPhone S3 Plus’.
However, the report claims the devices to be called as the ‘iPhone 8’ and the ‘iPhone 8 Plus’.
Why Apple will skip the 7S and the 7S Plus moniker this time, is a reason that escapes us. However, a change in the version number could mean a major change for the two handsets in terms of both hardware and software.
The report, besides revealing the ‘final’ names of the three iPhone models, has added that the pre-orders of the devices will start from September 15, three days after the launch. The shipping is expected to start from September 22. India may come in the second wave of markets and could get the device a month later at the earliest.
