Apple has finally launched its iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in India today. The move comes almost a month after introducing the handsets at its annual conference in September. The smartphones have already been up for pre-orders via Flipkart.
In a departure from its launch style followed since the past few years, the handsets won’t be available starting midnight. Interested buyers can only get their hands on the device starting 7 PM from authorised retailers.
According to retailers Gadgets Now spoke to earlier, the deliveries would begin at 12 am on October 7. However, it seems that new orders came in later from Apple. Some of these retailers even said that the warranty of the devices activated before 7 pm on October 7 would become void.
The 32GB, 128GB and 256GB variants of the iPhone 7 are priced at Rs 60,000, Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 respectively in India. The bigger-screen iPhone 7 Plus models are priced at Rs 72,000 for 32GB, Rs 82,000 for 128GB, and Rs 92,000 for 256GB.
The iPhone 7 features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display while the bigger iPhone 7 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch screen. Apart from that, other additions include, a 12MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture, 6 Element lens, 4 flash LEDs, flicker sensor and more. The smartphone’s camera also uses an Image signal processor to apply machine learning to distinguish between a human and an object in the image, adjusting its brightness and noise accordingly.
While on one hand, iPhone 7 features a single 12MP rear camera, iPhone 7 Plus comes with a dual 12MP rear camera with 2x optical zooming capability up to 56mm. Both sport a 7MP FaceTime-enabled front camera for selfies and video chats.
Talking about the performance, the two handsets are powered by the new quad-core Apple A10 Fusion processor. The processor has two high performance cores and two high efficiency cores for a longer battery life. It also has a new 6-core GPU which is claimed to be 50% faster than the A9 processor, which powers the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus.
