Amazon Prepping Three New Kindle Tablets

It is clearly evident that if Amazon has to stay in the race of tablets, it has to pull up its game. Amazon’s Kindle tablets are no more in the league of desirable tablets and the company, it seems realise that. BGR has got exclusive information that the company is planning a complete overhaul of its tablet line-up and is preparing to launch new hardware.

Sources close to the matter have told the site that the company is prepping atleast three new Kindle tablets, which will be rolled out in the market before the holiday season.

According to the report, the first device will be a replacement for the 17.7-cm (7-inch) Kindle Fire, which will have the same display but with a higher resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels instead of the 1,024 x 600-pixel resolution. Next in line will be a new and improved version of Kindle Fire HD. The display will be upgraded to 1,920 x 1,200-pixel resolution from 1,280 x 800-pixel screen in the current model. However, the screen size will remain the same.

The last device will be an enhanced version of the 22.6-cm (8.9-inch) Kindle Fire HD. Reportedly, the updated version will have a pixel count to 2,560 x 1,600.

The report further states that at this resolution, Amazon’s new high-end tablet will surpass Apple’s 24.6-cm (9.7-inch) Retina display into a smaller 22.6-cm (8.9-inch) screen. The iPad’s 24.6-cm (9.7-inch) Retina display features 2,048 x 1,536-pixel resolution.
