Acer launches two new projectors at IFA 2017

At the IFA 2017 being held in Berlin, Acer has launched two new projectors; the Acer VL7860 for home cinema enthusiasts and the Acer P8800 for larger venues and rooms, ideal for work purposes.

The company claims that the former — the VL7860 — is mainly aimed to cater to movie buffs who would love watching high definition movies within the comfort of their home. It has a sharp 120-inch 4K UHD (3,840×2,160) resolution display with 8.3MP on screen due to its XPR technology from Texas Instruments. It reaches up to 3,000 ANSI lumens and boasts of 1,500,000:1 DynamicBlack contrast which means it dynamically adjusts lamp power to optimise black levels for clear projection.

The projector supports wide colour gamut of 110% of the Rec. 709 colour space and is Rec. 2020 compatible to ensure colour accuracy. The company also claims that using the sRGB colour standard, the VL7860 ensures colour consistency and also eliminates deviation in colour reproduction. The AcuMotion frame interpolation system makes sure that the visuals are smooth and seamless, as it calculates and generates intermediate frames. The device is also HDR compatible which will allow it to reproduce greater dynamic range of luminosity and a wider range of brightness. The VL7860 has two built-in 5W speakers for better sound delivery. Using the ECO mode will reduce power consumption and extend lamp life up to 30,000 hours.

The Acer P8800, on the other hand, is equipped with TI XPR technology which serves more than 8.3 million on screen pixels almost four times that of a full HD screen. With 4K UHD resolution and brightness of up to 5,000 lumens; the images produced are sharp and vivid. It has a contrast ratio of 1,200,000:1 that delivers vivid blacks and bright whites on screen. It uses the same AcuMotion technology as in the VL7860 better viewing experience.

The Creston Network System allows LAN-based or multi-set control on the screen. The company ensures flexibility in terms of placement and image adjustment with 1.96X motorised zoom, H/V lens shift and central lens placement.

The company hasn’t announced its official price and availability as it will vary from region to region.
