11 Best gadgets of the year 2017

We are just hours away from bidding adieu to 2017 and it’s time to look back at all the gadgets that were launched this year. The year saw launches from all major brands including Apple, SamsungSonyLG and others. Some of the gadgets launched excelled in their performance, while the others lacked that ‘X factor’. We reviewed some of the devices launched this year and here is the list of gadgets we found as the best across categories.

Smartphone: Apple iPhone X
Apple iPhone X is undoubtedly the best smartphone of 2017. The anniversary edition iPhone from Apple comes with a starting price tag of Rs 92,430. The smartphone comes with an all glass body and bezel-less display. It runs iOS 11 and is powered by company’s own A11 Bionic chipset which is claimed to faster than its A10 chispest. The device offers dual rear camera setup and comes with facial recognition feature called FaceID. During our testing we found the smartphone to be a powerful performer.

Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy Note 8
Leaving behind all the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco of last year, Samsung launched its Galaxy Note 8 smartphone recently. It is one of the best Android smartphoneavailable in the market right now. Selling at Rs 64,900, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 offers all the high end specifications. It is the first smartphone of the company to sport a dual rear camera setup. The smartphone is ideal for those who want a big screen smartphone with support for inbuilt stylus. Running Android 7.1 Nougat operating system the smartphone comes with company’s own virtual assistant Bixby.

Headphones: Bose QC 35 II
Bose is a known brand when we talk about audio products. The company launched the successor of its Bluetooth headphones QC 35 this year. Dubbed QC 35 II, the headphones are priced at Rs 29,000 and are the best noise cancellation headphones available in the market. The device can be connected to you smartphone, tablet or laptop via Bluetooth and the Aux cable. The earcups are properly cushioned and are comfortable for prolonged usage. The headphones also enable the users to access Google assistant using them.

Headphones: Sony WH-1000XM2
Japanese consumer electronics giant Sony also focuses a lot on its audio products. The company recently expanded its audio product portfolio in the country. Out of all the products launched we found the Sony WH-1000XM2 to be the best. Priced at Rs 30,990, the headphones are as good as the one’s from Bose. The device automatically adjusts to the atmospheric pressure and offer nice audio experience. Along with this, the device also comes with Adaptive Sound Control that automatically adjusts to your surroundings. These headphones also offer improved battery life over the predecessor.

Laptop: HP Pavilion Power 15-CB052TX
Launched in India recently, the HP Pavilion Power 15-CB052TX is priced at Rs 99,990. It comes with all the top notch specs and delivers impressive performance which makes it a tough competitor in the premium segment. Running Windows 10 operating system, the laptop powered by 7th Gen Intel core i7 processor clocked at 2.8GHz base frequency and is backed by Intel HM175 chipset. Gaming was a total delight on the laptop. There weren’t any lags or stutters and the display is well-equipped to handle all the heavy games.

Laptop: Asus VivoBook S15
Asus VivoBook S15 is the best option available in the market if you are looking for a slim and sleek laptop. The laptop comes with a starting price tag of Rs 59,990 and the brushed metal design balances the performance and design combination. The device performs very well during multitasking and is also capable of running heavy games. Television: LG OLED TV E7 65-inches
Launched recently, the LG OLED TV E7 comes with hefty price tag of Rs 5,84,990. We found the TV to be a winner when it comes to both sound and viewing experience. The flat screen boasts of a 60 watt RMS 4.2 channel Dolby Atmos sound, combined with 4K Dolby Vision. The TV runs on LG’s own WebOS, which is good for the user who wants to watch programs on Netflix or YouTube. In standby mode, this TV consumes just 0.3 W of power and it comes with Dolby support which offers better user experience.

Television: Sony A1 TV

Priced at Rs Rs 3,64,900, the Sony A1 TV comes with a unique form factor. Apart from a large bezel-less display the other highlight of the device is audio output mechanism. The company has placed the main speakers at the back of the TV, but at the time of viewing a video it seems that the sound is coming from the display. The smart TV gives access to Android apps from the Google Play Store. In our testing, we found the TV to be to be a good entertainment device that supports 4K HDR content with ease and also offers all the features of a smart TV.

Bluetooth speaker: Ultimate Ears Wonderboom

If you are planning to buy a good Bluetooth speaker then you can go for the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom Bluetooth speaker. The device costs Rs 7,995 and it offers great audio experience in both indoor and outdoor environment. The UE WONDERBOOM has Bluetooth 4.2 to enable connections for playing media files from devices within a range of 100 feet. Along with this, the speaker is also waterproof which makes it your ideal companion for pool parties.

Camera: Sony A9 camera

Designed for professionals the Sony A9 is one of the best DSLRs available in the market. The camera comes with a hefty price tag of Rs 3,29,990 lakh (body only). The mirrorless camera is a good option for those who want a specific feature while shooting videos or images. In this camera Sony has managed to reach 20fps benchmark with 5-axis stabilisation and low-noise shutter speed. Along with this, the camera also offers best in class image quality, which you will not find in any other camera.

Camera: Fujifilm X-E3

If you don’t wish to spend that much on a camera, then you can consider going for the Fujifilm X-E3, which costs Rs 70,999 (body only). The camera sports retro look but offer all the latest features. It sports a 3.0-inch display with 3:2 aspect ratio, 0.39-inch OLED colour viewfinder and Fujifilm X lens mount on top. The device also offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity which helps in transferring the images captured.
