Google has released a new camera for Android devices which improves the stock Android version

If you enter the Google Play Store any time from now you should be able to find the Google Camera application which brings about some improvements on the stock Android camera. There’s a brand new user interface on the app and a couple of new features as well.

Handsets running Android 4.4 KitKat will also be able to shoot Photo Spheres and there’s a brand new feature called Lens Blur, which allows you to toggle the blur of the camera.

Android Police has jumped straight into the code and found some evidence of what Google is intending to do with the application in the future. The site discovered that Google is planning to let people use Photo Spheres as a Live Wallpaper.

There is no word on when this feature will be coming but the code pretty much confirms it’s in the works.

That’s not all. According to Android Police there’s also a load of new shooting modes to come. Currently there’s photo sphere, panorama, lens blur, camera and video. Three more are hiding in the code under the titles Advanced Camera Mode, Time Lapse Mode and Wide Angle Mode.

Wide Angle is assumed to have 16:9 capture. Time Lapse seems to work at intervals all the way up to 24 hours. Advanced Camera Mode isn’t that clear at the moment, there’s no hint as to what it might be.

In the new application there’s currently no ability to take photos whilst filming video but according to the code this is also in the works.

All this shows the Google Camera application is going to be having some serious work done in the near future. Expect more integration with Google features coming as well, including location services and a lot more.
