Four employees of national distributor company Rashi peripherals were arrested by Coimbatore city police following a complaint filed by a mobile dealer on charges of murder-attempt and kidnapping.

According to the market sources, a mobile dealer, owning Sri Sai communications owes Rs. 22 lakh to the national distributor has been a defaulter for a long time. “The dealer is also said to have been absconding for the past fifteen days and hasn’t been attending phone calls or coming to office. However, the employees tactically spoke to the dealer and made him meet to resolve the issue. During the meeting, there was a heated argument and the employees attacked the dealer, who later got a medical treatment and filed a case against them,” said a source.

The source added that the partner was not ready to pay more than Rs. 5 lakh.

There are three versions told by three different sources on the background of the incident.

Version 1:
It is said that the executives had given guarantee to the local distributor for the dealer’s payment and since the dealer did not pay back the regional distributor had stopped his payment to the national distributor, which has created pressure on the executives.

Version 2:
Since the dealer had lost his credit limit, the executives had billed the products in another dealer’s name and since the other dealer started applying pressure, the executives were forced to act.

Version 3:
The executives have goofed it up and to escape their employer leveling official complaint, they themselves have scripted this play.

Continuing menace:
According to many channel sources, there is a huge pressure on the vendor executives and the unawareness of the national distributors on the way their field-executives work, leads to these incidents.

Another distributor from Tamil Nadu said that the mobile market is not as organized as the traditional IT market, which works on a face-value when it comes to payments. He also felt that the distributors had to be more careful while dealing with most of the mobile dealer segments.
