Idea Cellular offers ‘unlimited calls’, 1GB data at Rs 109

There seems to be no end to the ongoing data war in the telecom industry. Telecom companies are scrambling to offer cheaper data plans ever since Reliance Jio entered the fray and changed the industry with its 1GB data per day plans. Now, Idea Cellular has launched a new data plan for Rs 109 offering ‘unlimited calling’.
The Rs 109 traiff plan offers users unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 1GB of 4G/3G data and 100 SMS as per day. The plan comes with a validity of 14 days. The telco also states that users are allowed to make calls of 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week. If a user exhausts the daily or weekly limit then they will be charged at 1 paisa per second for every call.

The plan is available in some select telecom circles. The subscribers can avail the pack by recharging through the company’s website or through its official app, My Idea app.

The new prepaid plan from Idea is said to compete against the Rs 93 plan of Airtel and Rs 98 plan of Reliance Jio. Airtelโ€™s Rs 93 plan offers 1GB data with the benefit of unlimited calling for the period of 28 days. On the other hand, Reliance Jio is giving 2GB data with unlimited calling for the validity of 28 days.

Recently, Idea revised the its existing postpaid plans. The company revamped the postpaid plans of Rs 499, Rs 649, Rs 999, Rs 389, Rs 1,299, Rs 1,699 and Rs 2,999. After revision all the plans are offering more data with the roll over facility.
